Google Turns 10

Google turns 10 this month and given such a massive birthday, Google has given us a really great insider's look into the making of the internet monster. If you open up the Google browser, you will notice (for a short while), a little announcement below the ever familiar search box. It reads "Google is turning 10: come celebrate with us", and if you click it - you might just be amazed, as I was, at the amazing journey that a little concept has taken.

I love hearing about how a simple idea can turn into something more powerful than at first imagined. A very elaborate Google time line is currently on display for all to see, and it shows the step-by-step process that undoubtedly made Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin very rich revolutionaries. Its hardly ironic that their persistence has made it possible for me to report this most excellent news, using the blogger service, which is of course another branch of Google.

Most people might feel threatened by this, exclaiming that they "feel like sheep", but the truth is that its people like this that make growth, business, prosperity and happiness possible. The world revolves, but we also have to revolve with it.

Think about the fact that the idea of a monstrous service such as Google, and what it is now, must have been very intimidating for two Stanford grads. I don't know what the exact number would be, but I would imagine that everyone in the world has at least one great idea, and that 99.9 percent of them abandon those ideas, because of their own fears. Please, if you have a great idea, have faith and please share. Ignore the doubt, because that one simple idea could bring a lot of happiness to the individual as well as the populous of the world. So to Google I give a gargantuan shout out. I leave you with this simple and truest of phrases.

We are wired to create.
